Visas Procedures for Foreign Artists
At a time when international cultural exchange is of great value to the United
States, non-profit arts organizations confront untenable delays and
uncertainties getting approval for visa petitions for international
guest artists. Arts Presenters is working with officials at the Department
of State and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to
propose administrative reforms to reduce complications.
Time constraints in visa processing affect our members who present
foreign artists, as the performing arts are a date, time, and location-specific
enterprise. Visa complications have led to cancelled tours, presentations
and residencies, causing cultural, economic and artistic harm to
American non-profit arts institutions and the local economies they
support.
A resource for the field from Arts Presenters and American Symphony
Orchestra League, www.ArtistsfromAbroad.org, offers the very latest
rules and regulations affecting artists coming into the United States.
Arts Presenters also offers one-on-one technical assistance for
our members to help avoid processing errors.
