Arts Presenters is grateful to the individuals, member organizations and foundations who have contributed to the creation of these two important funds, providing a lasting legacy of support for years to come.
The William Dawson Education Endowment
In 1996, Arts Presenters created the William Dawson Education Endowment to celebrate and honor Bill Dawson, Arts Presenters Executive Director from 1972 to 1986. Bill's friends and colleagues sought to establish a fund that would help educate a new generation of arts leaders, incorporating Bill's belief in life-long learning with his professional legacy of the successful partnership between higher education and the administration of the arts.
The result is the William Dawson Research Internship. This research program, inaugurated in 2005, awards graduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison funds to conduct a year-long research study on current trends facing the presenting field. At the end of the project, the graduate students share their findings with the Arts Presenters membership and the field at large during the annual Members Conference in New York City.

Classical Connections Endowment - Limitless Possibilities
Arts Presenters created the Classical Connections program in 1996 to bolster the valuable relationship between young classical music performers, presenters of classical music and the managers who represent these artists with tools to broaden their ability to express the passion of the music and energize concert-goers. Contributions designated to this program, begun by a matching challenge grant from The Helen F. Whitaker Fund, are used to conduct the program's two components, the Classical Connections Seminar for arts administrators and the Young Performers Career Advancement Seminar (YPCA) for emerging classical musicians, at the annual Members Conference in January in New York City.
Since its inception, more than 40 artists and ensembles have participated in YPCA, and Arts Presenters and the project alumni have begun a regional expansion of this program in 2005 with a grant from the NEA. In addition, over 100 arts presenters have participated in the Classical Connections seminar. Arts Presenters believes these artists and arts industry professionals are making a significant impact in the direction of classical music in the United States.
